PayPal Launches Crypto Payments for U.S. Businesses

PayPal is breaking down barriers for businesses of all sizes with minimal fees and instant access to funds.

At the end of July, the payment service PayPal announced the launch of crypto payments for businesses. The Pay with Crypto feature is currently available only to users in the U.S. and will support over 100 assets — from Bitcoin to Fartcoin.

To make payments, users will be able to use crypto wallets linked to the platform. PayPal will automatically convert digital assets into fiat via the PYUSD stablecoin, and the merchant will receive the payment in U.S. dollars.

According to the press release, the main advantage of the service is the reduction of cross-border transaction costs by up to 90% compared to traditional bank transfers and card payments.

Until July 2026, the transaction fee will be 0.99%. After that, it will increase to 1.5%. This is still lower than the average U.S. credit card fee — which was 1.57% in 2024.

Pay with Crypto is expected to become available to U.S. users in the coming weeks, pending approval by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).

Experts from Selwix note that earlier, in September 2024, the payment giant had already enabled corporate clients in the U.S. to buy, store, and sell cryptocurrencies directly from their business accounts.
